Terms
Kindredly is a small place with a few plain rules. Here they are, as briefly as we could write them.
1 · Who may use Kindredly
You must be at least 18. Kindredly is for adults — letters here go to strangers, and that is not something we can make safe for anyone younger. One account each, and not one we have removed before.
2 · What Kindredly is
A place to write letters to strangers, matched by how you write: sentence length, rhythm, punctuation. No profiles, no photographs of faces, no way to search for a person. Names are exchanged only after five letters each way, and only if you both choose. It is not a dating service and not a source of professional advice.
3 · Your words are yours
You keep every right in what you write. You give us permission only to store your letters, show your open letters to readers — including visitors to kindredly.io who have not made an account — deliver replies and messages to the person they are for, translate them for a reader, and screen them for safety. We do not train AI models on your writing, and we never sell it. Your journal is kept on your device, not on our servers, and nothing in it reaches us unless you choose to send it.
4 · The rules
No harassment, threats, hate, sexual content, or promotion of self-harm. No asking other members for money. No sharing anyone's private information. No advertising or spam. No pretending to be someone you are not. An automated safety check can hold a letter back before it is delivered, and every letter and correspondence has a report and block control. When three different people report the same account, that account can no longer send letters or messages — automatically. If you think that happened to you by mistake, write to us. We can also suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
5 · Other people's letters
A letter written to you belongs to the person who wrote it. Read it, keep it, answer it — but do not publish or redistribute it. We screen for safety, but we cannot verify who anyone is. Use your judgement.
6 · First Class and Cofounder
Kindredly is free, with as many kindreds as you find. On the free plan, a kindred's room closes after thirty days without a word; First Class keeps rooms open. First Class is an optional subscription and Cofounder a one-time purchase; prices are shown before you buy. Bought in the iPhone app, they go through the App Store: a subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings, at least 24 hours before it renews, and refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Bought on kindredly.io, they go through Creem, our payment processor and the merchant of record (your card statement reads CREEM.IO* STORE): a subscription renews automatically until you cancel it under Me → First Class → Manage billing, and if you change your mind within 14 days, write to hello@kindredly.io and we refund the full amount. Deleting your Kindredly account does not cancel a subscription bought either way.
7 · Leaving
Delete your account any time in Settings. It is immediate. Cancel any subscription separately, where you bought it: in your Apple account, or under Manage billing on kindredly.io — and for a kindredly.io subscription, do that before you delete, because afterwards we can no longer open its billing page for you. An automatic stop after three reports doesn't cancel a subscription either. If we close an account for breaking the rules, paid time is not refunded.
8 · The legal part
The service is provided as is; we cannot promise you will find a correspondent. Our liability is limited to what the law allows and to what you have paid us. Nothing here removes the consumer rights you have where you live. These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, and we may update them — the date above will change, and we will tell you in the app if it matters.
